The Glendale College women's soccer team fought hard in a 2–0 loss to Compton on September 19 at Sartoris Field. After giving up a few goals in early minutes, the Vaqueros tightened up on defense and shut Compton down for the rest of the match.
Goalkeeper Liliana Reynoso stood out with 4 big saves, keeping Glendale in the match and showing strong leadership from the back. Nayely Moreno and Angie Garcia each put shots on goal, while Lillian Yousefian and Ainsley Spehenson added more attempts to keep the pressure on Compton's defense.
The Glendale backline, led by Patile Hovaghimian, Katherine Avizuris Aguirre, and Andrea Banuelos, played the full 90 minutes and kept Compton from adding to their early lead. Midfielders Natalie Ramirez and Andrea Garnica worked box-to-box, helping the Vaqueros create chances while holding steady in possession.
Even though the Vaqueros came up short, the team showed strong defense, teamwork, and improvement heading into the rest of the season.
