Vaqueros Rally in Sixth to Defeat LA Mission 7–4

The Vaqs rallied in a big way on April 16, scoring five runs in the sixth inning to come from behind and defeat Los Angeles Mission College softball 7–4 on the road.

LA Mission struck first in the opening inning, but Glendale quickly answered in the second behind key hits from the middle of the order. Mia Sanchez delivered a big two-run double to bring in Olivia Ziebell-White, and moments later Jeyslen Orial added an RBI double of her own to give Glendale an early 2–1 lead.

After LA Mission regained control with a 4–2 advantage, the Vaqueros stayed within striking distance before erupting in the sixth inning. The comeback started with Ziebell-White, who singled in Azusena Lopez to cut into the deficit. Sanchez then came through again, this time with an RBI single that tied the game at 4–4 while also scoring Valerie Montes.

Glendale kept the momentum rolling as Alyssa Perez reached on an error that allowed Ziebell-White to score the go-ahead run. The big blow of the inning came from Arlene Islas, who ripped a two-run double to drive in Perez and Ariel Flores, pushing the lead to 7–4 and sealing the comeback.

Offensively, Ziebell-White finished with a strong all-around performance, collecting two hits, an RBI, and two runs scored. Sanchez also stood out, going 2-for-3 with a double, a single, and two RBIs while also contributing in the circle.

In the pitching circle, Sanchez went the distance, throwing seven innings while allowing just four runs (three earned) and striking out three to earn the win. Despite a competitive LA Mission lineup that totaled nine hits, she kept her composure late as the Vaqueros defense closed out the victory.

With a balanced attack, timely hitting, and a decisive sixth-inning surge, Glendale secured a hard-fought conference win on the road.
