Jaquez's hot bat leads Vaqs to game 1 win of Doubleheader Split

The Glendale Vaqueros came into the weekend on a mini four-game winning streak. Saturday, the Vaqs extended the streak to five straight after a 7-4 victory at Chaffey College after the first game, but couldn't get the job done in the second falling 8-2. 

In the doubleheader, Mimi Sanchez picked up her 12th victory in the circle after going seven quality innings with nine strikeouts - moving her strikeout total to 142 overall. Jazmin Jaquez was one of two Vaqs with three hits in four at bats in the first game as Jaquez and Azusena Lopez combined for five runs scored and three doubles. Jaquez was on fire in four games played this past week going 8-for-13, eight runs driven in, five extra base hits and scoring four runs). Lopez finished the week with seven hits in 16 at bats and she had her 22 game hitting streak come to an end after the 1st game. Mia Jurado and Jeyslen Orial each had two hits apiece in the first game. Jurado finished the week with eight hits in 13 at bats - which included a homerun and a double. Olivia Ziebell-White finished the week with five hits in 13 bats, driving in three runs - including two doubles and one homerun. 

Glendale (19-10) will return back to Western State Conference South action on Tuesday, March 31st on the road against Bakersfield College with first pitch slated for 2pm.
