The Glendale Vaqueros wrapped up their fourth straight doubleheader at home on Saturday afternoon against the Southwestern College Jaguars. The Vaqs improved to 5-0 in the first game of a doubleheader with the 5-3 decision, but couldn't get the offense going in the second game and were shutout for the first time 7-0.
In the doubleheader, Mimi Sanchez picked up her eighth victory in the circle after going seven quality innings with six strikeouts. Sanchez got the offense started in the bottom of the fourth with a line drive single to right-center field, then Jazmin Jaquez was hit by a pitch. Arlene Islas singled home Sanchez and Jaquez to tied it at 2. Izzy Mendoza and Cat Anzalone each drove in clutch runs after reaching on singles. Val Montes registered her first GCC hit in the second game.
Glendale will start Western State Conference South play on Thursday, March 5th against the Renegades of Bakersfield College at home with first pitch slated for 2pm.
