The Glendale College Vaqueros picked up a doubleheader sweep of Victor Valley on Saturday, earning a 9–7 win in Game 1 before rolling to an 11–3 victory in Game 2.
Game 1: Glendale 9, Victor Valley 7
Glendale built an early cushion with a five-run first inning and held off a late Victor Valley rally to secure the opener. Azusena Lopez had a huge game, going 3-for-4 with a home run, two triples, three runs scored, and four RBIs. Catarina Anzalone crossed the plate three times, while Jazmin Jaquez and Valerie Montes each drove in runs.
In the circle, Annaliese Ruiz allowed just one earned run over four innings, and Jazmin Jaquez finished the game despite a four-run seventh from the visitors.
Game 2: Glendale 11, Victor Valley 3
The Vaqueros wasted no time in the nightcap, scoring nine runs over the first three innings to pull away early. Azusena Lopez stayed hot, finishing 4-for-4 with two RBIs, while Mia Jurado went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs. Mia Allinson added a two-run double, and Mia Sanchez chipped in two RBIs.
Mia Sanchez earned the win in the circle, allowing just one run on one hit over four innings, and Valerie Juarez closed out the game in relief.
The sweep improved Glendale's record to 9-1, as the Vaqueros continue to show balance at the plate and depth in the pitching staff.
