Vaquero Bats Continue to “Bang”

The Glendale Vaqueros continued their dominance at home, this time against the Roadrunners of Rio Hondo College, in a non-conference contest that went five innings, as they improved to 5-0 in the early season with a 16-2 victory. 

Azusena Lopez led the Vaqueros attack going 4 for 4 with four runs scored, homering in her 4th straight game to go along with a triple and two runs driven in. Catarina Anzalone finished with a homerun and three runs scored. Jazmin Jaquez was perfect at the dish going 2 for 2 with two RBIs and two runs scored and closed out the game in the fifth inning with two strikeouts in the circle. Taylor Bangs, in only her second at bat of the season collected her second extra-base, an RBI double in the fourth inning. Jeyslen Orial and Ariel Flores registered their first hits of the season.

Annaliese Ruiz improved to 2-0 in the circle with yet another perfect appearance, and the first coming in relief. Ruiz faced four batters with three strikeouts improving her season total to 12. She has yet to allow a run on just one hit in seven innings of work so far this season. At the plate, Ruiz also drove home Jaquez on a single through a the left side of the infield in the first inning. 

Glendale will next be in action at Oxnard College on Tuesday, February 3rd with first pitch at 2pm.
