Vaqueros Overcome Challenging Conditions at WSC Preview
Under bright, sunny skies and breezy conditions, the Glendale College Vaqueros cross country teams turned in strong performances at the Western State Conference (WSC) Preview Meet, held on a demanding course featuring steep hills and uneven terrain that made maintaining rhythm especially difficult.
Women's Team Shows Depth and Determination
The women's squad was represented by four sophomores: Elsa Ludena, Fernanda Barranco, Scarlet Lastrapes, and Ashley Puac.
  • Elsa Ludena led the Vaqueros with a spectacular race, moving steadily through the field to finish 6th overall in 22:16.
  • Fernanda Barranco recorded a 28th-place finish in 25:45, while Ashley Puac and Scarlet Lastrapes completed the scoring with times of 28:46 and 30:32, respectively.
Men's Team Claims Third in Tight Battle
The men's team engaged in a ferocious contest, ultimately finishing third overall in an exceptionally close team race. Only seven points separated the top three teams — Moorpark (69), Cuesta (75), and Glendale (76).
  • Andranik Margaryan led the Vaqueros with an impressive 7th-place finish in 22:57.
  • Andrew Kanzangian and Evan Ellersieck followed in 10th and 11th place, respectively, both posting 23:18.7.
  • Sebastian Perez added a crucial 21st-place performance in 23:47, while Tigran Tadevosian rounded out the scoring five with a 32nd-place finish in 24:30.
