GLENDALE, Calif. — The Glendale College men's soccer team showed resilience and grit on Tuesday night, earning a 1-1 draw against No. 2-ranked El Camino College at Sartoris Field.
Facing one of the top programs in California, the Vaqueros held their ground thanks to a strong defensive effort and a standout performance in goal from sophomore Arvin Navasartian, who recorded 13 saves on the night, including 10 in a shutout first half.
After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, El Camino broke through in the 75th minute with a goal from Jaden Hancock. But Glendale refused to fold. With just five minutes left in regulation, Kevin Anjunyan delivered the equalizer, finishing a setup from Eduard Yeghiazarov to send the home crowd into celebration and secure the result.
The Vaqueros were outshot 20-7 but made their chances count, placing six of their seven attempts on frame. Glendale's defense, anchored by Navasartian and a backline led by Erik Amirkhanyan, Michael Malolepszy, Johnathan Yanez, and Diego Lopez, stood tall throughout, weathering heavy pressure from a Warriors offense that had been red hot in recent weeks.
The Vaqueros will host ELAC, Friday - 7:30pm at Sartoris Field
