Vaqueros Defeat Bakersfield 9–3 Behind Strong Offense

The Vaqueros delivered another strong performance on April 16, defeating Bakersfield College 9–3 behind a balanced offensive attack and a dominant outing on the mound.

Glendale wasted no time getting on the board, plating three runs in the first inning. Miguel Villegas came through with a clutch two-RBI single to score David Lozano and Jackson Lyons, while Andrew Garcia added a sacrifice fly to extend the early lead.

The Vaqueros kept the pressure on in the third. Noah Jaquez launched a two-run home run to right field, bringing in Lozano and pushing the lead to 5–0. Moments later, aggressive baserunning paid off as Villegas stole home, highlighting Glendale's ability to manufacture runs in multiple ways.

At the plate, David Lozano turned in a standout performance, going 4-for-5 with a home run, a double, three runs scored, and two RBIs. Jackson Lyons also had a big day, collecting three hits and scoring twice at the top of the lineup. Charlie Carafotes added three hits of his own and contributed on the basepaths with a stolen base.

Glendale's lineup stayed productive throughout the game. Miguel Villegas finished with two hits, two RBIs, and a stolen base, while Noah Jaquez drove in two runs and scored twice. James Harrington and Andrew Garcia each added an RBI to round out the scoring.

On the mound, John Trainor set the tone with a strong start, going six innings while allowing just one run on two hits and striking out five to earn the win. The bullpen held steady the rest of the way, with Tristan Purfoy, Ethan Montes, and Cris Banuelos combining to limit Bakersfield to two runs over the final three innings. Banuelos closed the door with a scoreless ninth, striking out two.

With 13 hits, aggressive baserunning, and a commanding pitching performance, Glendale controlled the game from start to finish and continued its strong run in conference play.
