The Glendale College Vaqueros showed their resilience once again, erasing multiple deficits to defeat Mt. San Antonio College 7–6 on Thursday and improve to 4–0 on the season.
Mt. SAC jumped out early with three runs in the first inning and added another in the second, taking a 4–0 lead. Glendale responded in the bottom of the second when Adonis Jenkins ripped an RBI double to put the Vaqueros on the board. The comeback continued in the third as David Lozano drove in a run with a single, trimming the deficit to 4–2.
After Mt. SAC pushed the lead to 5–2 in the fourth, Glendale delivered its biggest inning of the night. Jackson Pratt singled home a run, and moments later Andrew Garcia crushed a two-run double to tie the game at 5–5, igniting the Vaqueros' dugout.
The Mounties briefly regained the lead in the sixth on a wild pitch, but Glendale had the final answer. Mike Bang delivered the decisive blow, launching a two-run home run to give the Vaqueros a 7–6 advantage they would not relinquish.
Offensively, Glendale piled up 11 hits, led by Jackson Lyons, who went 3-for-5 with two runs scored. Garcia finished with two RBIs and reached base three times, while Bang drove in two runs with his clutch homer. Lozano added two hits and an RBI, Jenkins went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run, and Pratt chipped in an RBI as well.
On the mound, Tristan Purfoy earned the win with two strong innings in relief, allowing just one run. The bullpen shut the door late, as Carson Maymo tossed two scoreless innings and Ethan Montes worked a clean ninth to secure the victory.
With another come-from-behind performance, the Vaqueros continue their strong start, proving they can win in a variety of ways early in the season.
