Late Surge Lifts Vaqueros Past East LA once again, 8–4

The Glendale College Vaqueros turned a tight game into a convincing win with a big late offensive push, defeating East Los Angeles 8–4 to improve to 3–0 on the season.

Locked in a scoreless battle through four innings, Glendale broke through in the fifth and never looked back. The Vaqueros scored two runs in the fifth, added two more in the sixth, then blew the game open with a three-run seventh before tacking on an insurance run in the eighth.

Andrew Garcia was a spark at the plate, finishing 1-for-3 with two RBIs, two runs scored, and two walks, consistently getting on base and driving in key runs. Adrian Contreras delivered a momentum-shifting swing with a solo home run, while also adding an RBI. Julian Areliz, Adonis Jenkins, and Tanner Teffs each drove in runs, showcasing Glendale's lineup depth.

On the mound, Glendale used a committee approach. John Trainor gave the Vaqueros a solid start, allowing just two runs over four innings. Anthony Yepez earned the win with two innings of relief, and the bullpen closed strong as Nate Calloway and Jorge Martinez combined for three shutout innings to finish the game.

Glendale showed patience at the plate, drawing eight walks, and capitalized on late opportunities to pull away.

With the win, the Vaqueros complete the sweep of East Los Angeles and continue their strong start, combining timely hitting with reliable pitching and depth across the roster.
