2014 GCC Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees
1974 Men's Cross Country - Outstanding Team
The 1974 GCC Men’s Cross Country team won the first state title ever in the sport that year and has won 10 more to date for men and women combined. That team was coached by 2006 GCC HOF inductee John Tansley and assisted by Mark Covert as the Vaquero lost only one meet that year, to Moorpark College in the WSC Championships. Bobby Thomas, a 2008 GCC HOF inductee, was the top runner for Glendale and also won the individual state championship that year.
John Cicuto - Outstanding Coach
John Cicuto started coaching at Glendale College in 1975 as the defensive coordinator and took over as head coach from 1989 to 2007.Currently the Vaqueros Athletic Director, Cicuto won almost 100 games in his head coaching career and three of the five bowl games his teams played in. He is currently the President of the Southern California Football Association and has served on many conference and state committees throughout the state in almost 40 years at GCC.
Kelly Korras - Outstanding Athletic Achievement
Kelly Korras is considered one of the top pitchers to ever take the mound for the Lady Vaqs, earning All-WSC honors as a sophomore for head coach Dave “Hawk” Wilder and later transferring to Chaminade University in Hawaii. She finished her athletic career as a pitcher on the South African National Team and is currently the Director of Compliance at U.C. Riverside.
Mark McMillian - Outstanding Athletic Achievement
Mark McMillian earned All-American honors as a defensive back at Glendale College in 1988 and later played two years for the University of Alabama’s Crimson Tide. Standing just 5-foot-7, McMillian played in the NFL for five teams from 1992 to 1999 and intercepted 23 passes as a lockdown cornerback during his career and returned three picks for touchdowns. He led the NFL in return yardage for interceptions with 274 in 1997 playing for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Harry Hull - Meritorious Service
Harry Hull was an original member of the Glendale Community College Athletic Hall of Fame Committee that was established in 2001 to create an event that would honor the tremendous athletic history at GCC. He is a past emcee and chair of the HOF event supported by the GCC Foundation and served 22 years as a member of the Foundation Board of Directors, including a stint as president from 2008-10.
Hudson Houck - Pillar of Achievement
Hudson Houck is considered one of the most successful offensive line coaches in the history of the NFL where he coached for five teams in 29 years. Houck coached on the Super Bowl winning staffs of the Dallas Cowboys in 1993 and 1995 and also coached many players who earned All-Pro honors and four who have been inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame. Houck played football for the Vaqueros in 1961 and at USC from 1962-64 and was a member of the 1962 National Championship team for the Trojans.
