1959 Men's Track Team - Outstanding Team

The 1959 men’s track team won the first state championship in school history. The Vaqueros took nine men up to the meet in Modesto. No athlete placed lower than fourth place and each scored points that helped secure the win for Glendale. The head coach of the team was Ed Tucker, who was inducted into the hall of fame in 2003.

Bill Renison - Outstanding Athletic Achievement

Renison played football and ran track at Glendale in 1961 and 1962 and was an All-American on the gridiron in both years. He continued his football career at USC and still holds the Vaquero third place ranking in career rushing.

Kim Lorimer - Outstanding Athletic Achievement

Kim Lorimer won the state women's track and field championship in the 3000-meters for the Vaqueros in 2001. She earned All-American honors in cross country and track and field at Glendale College in 2000 and 2001 and later continued her career at Adams State University in Colorado.

Robert Thomas - Outstanding Athletic Achievement

Thomas helped the 1974 cross country team and the 1975 track team win state championships at Glendale and he also won the 1975 World Junior Cross Country title in Morocco.

Tom McMurray - Outstanding Coach

An outstanding middle distance runner for the Vaqueros in 1963 and 1964, McMurray later coached the cross country and track teams for almost 30 years until he retired in 2005. He helped coach four state championship teams and trained 13 individual state champions.

Gary Wright - Pillar of Achievement

Gary Wright is a former Sports Information Director at Glendale Community College. He also worked in World Team Tennis and in the World Football League. He has been an administrator for the NFL's Seattle Seahawks for 32 years and has helped coordinate media for 24 Super Bowl's.
